Never Discount Your Destiny

How many times have you opted for the cheaper option, only to find that despite the saving, you didn’t get what you were expecting? Or, when you’ve only bought part of the program, to then realise that what you really needed was the other option? While it’s ok to be frugal with things that ultimately really aren’t that important; why in all common sense and wisdom would you take the cheap option when it comes to creating the life you want; overcoming your greatest limiting beliefs; or enhancing your most important relationships? You just wouldn’t, would you?


A few weeks ago, during a meeting with a business owner who was interested in my reputation for massive personal transformation, I was asked if I offered different levels of service. You know the type of thing, the run of the mill “Gold, Silver and Bronze” models you see if you’re looking at split level support service such accounting or IT. Before I could respond the business owner suggested: “because If you don’t you should, as its good to have investment options!” I lowered my head slightly, studying intently.


All that glitters is not gold!

Now, the conversation took place in a very stylish office, filled with fine fixtures, top of the line gadgets and had a great view over the city centre, so here was someone who had no hesitation in paying for what they perceived to be worth it. Yet, they were positioning themselves as wanting to have options at the level of investment, and as a result, the level of service they could take up. I sat there a few seconds, my mind and senses absorbing and reading his body, cleaning up the language he used, eliciting the strategy of his thinking and rooting to that which he may not himself yet be aware of.

You see, I don’t deal in portions! I don’t compromise on what the real source of problems are, play service to ego, providing a temporary high or applying a mental sticky-plaster to an emotional wound that will continue to weep and seep inside, denying you who you truly are and what you can truly become. So there are no cheaper options or lower level services in my world of transformation. While the length of engagement we experience together may vary depending on the range of areas in your life you wish to transform, the depth and degree to which we work is limitless.

I challenge any coach or consultant who claims to be able to make massive difference in a business owner’s world, to explain how they can do so at any level that isn’t 100% Pure Platinum. At a level that doesn’t fully commit to the delivery of what is to me, a personal promise! Of course, I’m not going to guarantee it won’t be uncomfortable, or that there won’t be times when you’ll fight like hell to hold on to the familiarity of what it is you know, no matter how much it holds you back. But know this, if you are serious about massive sustainable change, you will commit as will I, to getting the results you really want, even if you don’t know them yet.




Sometimes you just have to say good-bye!

When it comes to my passion and the sharing of the gifts and skills I have spent decades perfecting, I neither dilute nor detract from what needs to be done, just as you should never compromise on your own transformation. When it comes to finding the right mentor, the right teacher or guide to a new enhanced way of operating, it’s important above all else that you trust the level of investment they have in you, as much as you are willing to invest in them.


In this particular case, it was evident that the collection of things, symbols and status were far more worthy pursuits than any personal transformation, and therefore they were unlikely to do what it takes in honesty, vulnerability and self-awareness to change. It’s an uncommon practice to walk away from a deal in these testing economic times, but as I said, I don’t deal in compromise and you should never discount your destiny.

Academy changed my life - from bankruptcy to new successes



My name is Tim Fenton from Brookfield in Renfrewshire. In 2008 my business crashed and I lost everything. I had already sold my house to keep the business afloat. When I handed over the keys, both my wife and I became unemployed. Savings were all but gone. We got short term jobs that kept us going for a while, but eventually we were jobless, almost penniless, on the verge of being homelessbut never without hope.
I am not a religious man by any stretch of the imagination, but I found solace in going to my local church a couple of times. This was when my wife Janette, realised that I was in a very dark place and sliding towards depression if I was seeking help in church!
I was attending services there as I knew it was the only place I knew I could get peace of mind and be safe from creditors and all my related issues for an hour or two.
I first heard about Stevie Kidd at the Job Centre. The lady I was registering with asked me if I would consider retraining to find a new job. She never got to finish the question; such was my desire to get out of the unemployment rut and into work.  I was given Stevie’s details and I said I would contact him asap.
Having never “signed on” in my life before, I found the whole experience to be humiliating and it dented my already fragile self confidence and pride.
Afterwards, as I was walking through the Mall adjacent to the Job Centre, I stopped at a “pop up” shop that had been set up to help people get training in the local area.  I noticed a course advertised offering self development courses, on the job training and guaranteed interviews. I applied immediately and it turned out to be one of Stevie’s “KDS” Academy courses. I had a really good interview next day and wasn’t bothered that I was a lot older than most people applying. It’s only a number!



I passed the initial interview and was asked to attend a meeting where the course details would be explained further.  It was there I met Stevie for the first time and was immediately impressed by how he just oozed positivity and how he described how this course would, not could, help everyone to raise their goals higher and how to achieve targetsand move on even higher.
He shared his own life story with everyone, warts and all. There was a real similarity in my own story. I trusted him from the start. I believed in him.  I knew this meeting would be the start of a whole new chapter in my life and I was going to grab it with both hands and drag myself out of the rut that I had been sliding into.
The next month was great for me. I got on really well with the others in the Academy and soaked up every bit of positive energy like a sponge. Stevie and his team made everyone feel valued and encouraged us all to set goals for every aspect of our lives.  The knock on effect for me was that I took everything home with me and my family life improved dramatically. We all had a renewed sense of direction and we vowed to make the changes in attitude and outlook to make things work.
I gained a number of work related qualifications on the course and my confidence was sky high by the time it came around to the interview process. So much so, that one particular Manager who interviewed   me said I could have his job if it became available any time soon!
Such was the level of self belief and confidence I portrayed.
As much as I was grateful for the interviews offered, I decided to seek vacancies beyond the Academy and the particular range of jobs we had trained for.
I managed to convince the MD of Phoenix Car co. to give a 50 year old sales novice the chance to be a Graduate TraineeSales Executive with his top franchise. No pressure there!
Being the oldest trainee made me even more determined to excel, not just succeed. I was eager to prove myself to my showroom boss who was half my age. My 3 month non commission trial period lasted 3 days. I told them I could sell cars immediately and would prove it. I did.
As a bankrupt, I couldn’t afford to hang about and with my new found lease of life, armed with the techniques and principles I had learned at the academy, I took to it all like the proverbial duck. I quickly established myself as the top selling salesman in the showroomovertaking seasoned pros.
Further down the line, as I gained experience, I was promoted to Senior Sales Executive.
I applied for and won a place on a training trip to Florida, which I attended for 4 days with only £100 in my wallet, such had my desire to win overtaken my income at that point!
I won a Sales incentive and received a £400 Citizen Pilot watch.  I won a Sales incentive cruise. I was earning more than the Managers in the showroom I worked in, purely as a result of being ultra positive and setting my own targets.
I attended and completed a Management Training course. I am currently a Sales Manager in my own showroom.  I have just won a National Sales Incentive trip for 2 to India this yearin my first 6 months.
Everyday is a new challenge and I try to help all my team to believe that they can achieve anything they set their mind on.  I am enjoying seeing how I can help others to fulfil their potential. It’s great to give something back. This is a vitally important part of the whole process.
If we help others, we help ourselves.
I will always be eternally grateful to Stevie Kidd and his team for helping me through a very difficult time in my life. I thank them for reassuring me that I was worthy of another chance in life.  I am indebted to them for instilling in me a desire to learn how to adopt a positive attitude no matter how bad the situation and to plan everyday, week, month etc. helping me to set targets and goals.
My life and the lives of my family have changed enormously…. and we still see this as just the beginning.

The Senses - My Coaching Programmes - "We live our life through our senses"

One area I support my clients on is based on how we use our senses, also understanding how we process information through our senses, which representational system we operate more than the others, 

We all pay attention to the outside world and gather information using our five senses . We can only focus consciously on 7 things but unconsciously we can process much more.

(V  Visual  Seeing) ( A  Auditory   Hearing)   ( K Kinaesthetic  Feeling)  ( O Olfactory Smelling)        ( G Gustatory Tasting)      ( 6th Sense)

With my clients we start with the end in mind, what does that look like and feel like. We then recognise the famous saying, " if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got. A real point to be aware of and understand is there is always MORE...


When working with clients we focus on where the today attention has been sign posted. We direct our attention through our senses. We empower the client to pay more attention to the outside. We then focus on the inside to become more aware, more sensitive to the thoughts and feelings we have in the inside, as when we are able to pay more attention and control to the inside we see more in the outside.


The way to develop yourself is to exercise and play to your weaker sense. Set aside certain times when you will deliberately pay attention with your weaker senses. It will be uncomfortable , but you will learn more.

My own personal experience for many years was "Visual sense " was extremely powerful, Auditory was weak. So when I strolled up the Nature trail with my German Shepherd Max for many years I would play on my auditory, exercising what I could hear. Initially listening to all the noises within the nature trail, where they were coming from 360 around me. Then I took it to another level, I blind folded myself and then listened to birds and could point to the branch of a tree and even name the bird simply by its tweet.


The master teacher for me is Dr Richard Bandler, many years ago enrolling on a personal enhancement 3 day journey with mind spa did it for me, 3 days with a genius, 12 people in the room for 10 - 12 hours. This journey completely transformed my life in so many directions.

Ask yourself this?

Internal Attention - What are you aware of in your body?

Often we simply blank out signals that we do not like instead of paying attention to them. When you start to pay attention, you will be able to understand and appreciate yourself on a deeper level. This is part of pacing yourself - simply allowing yourself to become aware of your thoughts, feelings, emotions. and states without necessarily trying to change them. The more we become aware of our internal world, the more we will appreciate who we are and come to know ourselves.


Systematic internal awareness is called "Taking a personal inventory" 

When I go up the nature trail I often sit and do the following exercise 



1 Sit quietly for a few moments and really become aware of your body.

What are you mostly aware of?
What feelings do you have in your body?

2 Start at your feet and let your awareness move up your body.

Feel the connection between all the parts of the body.

Which parts feel at ease and which parts feel uncomfortable?

Do not try to change anything, just notice, without judging.

3 What thoughts do you have?

Look at your mental pictures. if you have any at the moment.

What are the qualities of those pictures? Do they move quickly or slowly or are they still?

Whereabouts in your visual field are they located?

How far away do they seem to be?

4 What sounds do you hear in your mind?

Are you talking to yourself?

What sort of voice quality does this have?

Are there any other sounds?

Where do they seem to come from?

5 How is your sense of balance?

Do you feel as though you are leaning too far to one side or too far backwards or forwards?

6 What emotional state are you in?

What is your predominant emotion?

Be aware of it without trying to change anything.

7 Come back to the present moment.

An inventory does not try to change anything, only to pay attention internally.

Disney Creativity Strategy - The Disney Strategy was modelled by Robert Dilts from Walt Disney

This is a good all purpose strategy for creative thinking and is effective when used informally for team sessions, I use this exercise frequently when coaching or consulting with leaders of businesses, I find it very effective with leaders and teams.



So, think of an outcome you want to explore. The Disney strategy works well for any situation where you need to come up with a general plan, for example  in a presentation or training.

You need to anchor spatially three states: the dreamer , the realist and the critic. Mark out three spaces on the floor, one for each state, so you can step onto them.

1 Dreamer position : 

This is where you create possibilities. Here you are visionary, seeing the big picture. Be creative without restraint.

The Dreamer position mostly uses the visual representation systems,
Ask Yourself " What do I want"?



2 Realist Position 

This is where you organise your plans, evaluate what is realistically possible, think constructively and devise an action plan.

The realist position mostly uses the kinaesthetic representation system.

Ask yourself , " What will I do to make these plans a reality"?




3 Critic position 

This is the position where you test the plan , you are looking for the problems, difficulties and unintended consequences. Think of what could go wrong, what is missing and what the pay off's will be.

The critic position mostly uses the auditory representation system  ( Internal Dialogue)

Ask yourself ," what could go wrong"?

If you do not have personal experiences of these states, then either:

1 Use the "as if " frame. What would it like to be like this?
2 Think of a role model who is good at the state and second position that person.



Once you have decided on the three positions , go through the following steps: 

1 Think of a time when you were very creative without restraint and then  step into the dreamer spot. Relive that time. This will spatially anchor the resources of the dreamer state to that spot.

2 Break state

3 Think of a time when you constructively put an action plan into operation. Step into the realist position and relive that time, spatially anchor those resources there and then step out.

4 Break state

5  Think of a time when you were able to constructively criticise a plan, with the intention of making it more effective. Step into the critic space and relive that time. Spatially anchor those resources there.

Step out

6 Break state

7 Take the outcome you want to explore and step into the dreamer space. Get into the dreamer state that you have anchored to that spot. Be creative about that outcome. Visualise as many possibilities as possible. Do not edit or evaluate : brain storm and look for all possibilities.

8 Next, step into realist position and think about your dreams. Organise the ideas into realistic sequence. How would you put these plans into practice? How could you accomplish these things? What is it realistic to achieve?

9 Then step into critic position and evaluate the plan. Explore what is missing and what is needed. What might go wrong? what's in it for you and for others? Is it ecological? The critic is not a hostile position. The positive intention of the critic is to make the plan better. The critic must criticise the plan , not the dreamer or the realist for putting it together

10 Finally, go back to the dreamer position and think of more possibilities in the light of the information you have gained from the realist and critic positions. Go through the three positions in any order that feels right until you are satisfied,  


This exercise is an excellent team exercise. Many teams do not work well because they have a preponderance of one type of thinker. Teams with a lot of dreamers make wonderful plans but never action them. Teams with many realists jump in too soon and try to implement the plan before it is complete. Teams with lots of critics often do not get anywhere because no plan is perfect enough to pass the muster.

Going to the Movies ! - Just Imagine being able to think like this........


I am incredibly lucky. I have the chance to transform the lives of the people who come into my life both on a personal and professional basis. My first interactions with a new client are critical. I ask them what is holding them back from being the person they know in their hearts they can be. Often my clients will tell me about a long list of limitations; “I have no money, no job and no self esteem”. They may tell me “my wife has left me, I am too old, I have no skills, I have lost all of my confidence and I am lost looking for myself”.
I tell my clients that they must adopt the view - there are no limitations. No limitations in the areas of your life where you want to grow, where you want your life to take off. 


We work together, it requires trust and confidence in each other and when you have that, when I have demonstrated that I am worth their trust then they have to work hard inside themselves to just go for it. We start with a trip to the movies. Everyday our lives revolve around the movies we create in our head based on past experience and our interpretation about the reason for our past failures. We use these movies to help us predict what the future outcome will be of many day-to-day encounters and opportunities. If we have the baggage of past failures chiselled into vivid movies that we rerun every time we need to predict the future – hey guess what if they don't predict a further failure. Hey presto we have ourselves a Technicolor self fulfilling prophecy.


  
So the first thing we do is we close our eyes and we take a trip to Hollywood. Arriving at Heathrow terminal 5 we buy a new outfit, a glass of champagne and that new music we have been wanting for so long. As our flight is called we board first class, settle down to listen to that new cd and take another sip of champagne. Arriving we are whisked direct to studio they are waiting for us, camera, make up, lights – Action. We record a new movie in your head. The one where you are the good guy, you are swept off your feet, the contract won, the leadership speech followed by a standing ovation. We make the movie based on the success you want. When we watch it back, it is amazing. It is an Oscar level success. The music (listen to it) the smell of success (sniff the air), the vision of you as the leading character of success, confident, leading, driven. All of your life is in harmony, family and friends gather to cheer at your success.

 We go to the movie that we all have in our minds, we bathe ourselves in it. I believe it is important for my clients to stay there, to root themselves in that movie in their mind.



Achieving this mental picture of their own movie will involve part of them staying in the present and part of them moving forward to the future. Their minds do go back to present but they experience a feeling as if there are two of you. This state is not easy to sustain for the person I am working with because every second their mind works towards getting the goal because you have a fixed image of what goal is. These sub modalities are enhanced and I often liken it to being in a 360 degree cinema where you are watching your life and the life that you want to create. You can think of it like an elastic band stretching from present to future. The band draws you back but can be stretched and motivates you to get that goal and improve your current state at an accelerated speed.

Today my job is help my clients to realise in all areas of life who they are, to re-enter the world after we have worked together only accepting one thing – excellence in all aspects of their lives. Live the life you created in your Hollywood movie, make it happen.




Twinning
Once the movie is made, embedded, playing 10 times a day we add layers to the movie experience which I call. Twinning.

We work together to raise my clients personal bar as high as possible, to set their ambitions as high as possible - we have no debates simply we are here today, this is our current state and this is excellence modelling. This is mirroring the people in the world who are doing it, achieving the best right now. We work towards these “world class” goals with our own personal to excel past that level to a greater and even higher level.



We then introduce the image and personality of a twin, a twin we see each and every day, the twin of you who has already achieved the level that we are targeting. This way we have each have a buddy who is with you. This is a hugely valuable buddy, one we keep really close. We chat with him (or her) each night taking advice on what we want to improve on.

At end of each day you close your eyes and you’re led by your buddy to a creative room, as we enter the room each night we sit around a board room table with TV monitors on the wall, they are showing film of the things we have done, the main activities in the day you have just lived.



There is one more thing in this special “creative” room – we have our role models and mentors with us in the room too. When I do this for me I have 8 of my role models and another 3 of me. I listen closely as they tell me one by one what I have excelled in, what I could have changed and what I could do differently next time. Sometimes I fast-forward or rewind the pictures on the TV monitors. I can control them in my mind to show what I was doing at a specific period and on a specific day. I explore a day or a situation that interests me, exploring to see if I missed an opportunity and to think again about how I could have made things better. As I finally leave the room for the night I look back and thank my friends and mentors and role models for their input, I will do better tomorrow




Just simply visiting Hollywood with me, creating a new movie and growing a twin can transform my client’s lives. It sounds easy doesn't it? It is. 



People say working with me empowers you to be excited and extremely motivated to pick up a pen and start writing the new chapters of your life story. You create chapters that before you work with me are simply unimaginable.
